Why buy a HD Projector?
Many users may need to consider whether to get a HD projector or a HDTV for home theater use.
For a start, HDTV is common and with today’s technology, users have a lot to choose from. Plasma, LCD and LED are the more common types of televisions available for projection in HD resolution.
The question usually comes when users want to have more experience with a home theater. The answer relies a lot on the size of the room and the environment settings of the home theater system.
Several factors are important consideration between these two choices.
1. Ideally, video projection is best for viewing DVD, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies. Yet, projectors do not have RF cable or antenna connections, unlike televisions. However, if the cable or satellite box has relevant connections for S-Video, component, DVI, and/or HDMI, it can be hooked up to a video projector. It is common these days for HD projectors to be equipped with HDMI connections for digital, uncompressed streaming.
2. video projectors have a very limited bulb life. A user may spend three to four hours every night watching movies, and potentially spend an average of 300 dollars replacing the bulbs alone each year.
3. Large screens used for projection may make movies without HD resolutions less appealing. VHS with low resolution looks bad, and standard tv or satellite looks better on tv.
4. Users may opt for projectors if there is a desire to experience a ‘cinema’ effect with the large projection screen. For this, the television is not yet able to take the place of a projector.
